A graduate of MIT, he is a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society and charter member of the National Council of Industrial Meteorologists. Peter Leavitt is a professional consultant to private companies world-wide and contemporary peer professionals. He currently serves on several academic and government advisory committees of the National Weather Service, National Academy of Sciences, AMS, NCIM, etc.
